Nordnet entered the Finnish market in 2005, and more than doubled in size through the acquisition of Finland's biggest internet broker eQ in 2009. Today, Nordnet is a leading online broker on the Helsinki Stock Exchange, a position on which we will base our further progress.

Nordnet's offer in Finland include securities brokerage, savings in mutual funds and a savings account, which was launched in 2010. The latter has been an important product addition, as savings in liquid funds dominates the Finnish market. In 2009, our mutual funds portal was launched, giving greater freedom of choice and raising awareness of mutual funds as an interesting savings option.

Nordnet has an office in Helsinki, from which customer service, marketing and sales on the Finnish market is handled.

Financials

In 2011, Nordnet Finland's operating profit reached SEK 35.4 million with an operating margin of 21%. The number of active accounts amounted to 86,900 with a total savings capital of SEK 21.5 billion. The customers made 2,738,400 trades during the period.

Finnish savers

The Finnish customer base has by far the largest share of stocks in their portfolios, if compared to their Nordic neighbours. 87% of the portfolios consisted of shares by the end of the second quarter 2010, whereas mutual funds only made up 3%. The most popular stock to own is Nokia. The Finnish savers prefer to trade on their domestic market, and only 12% of the trades were closed on a foreign stock exchange during the second quarter.
